Delta A.R.C. v0.5 and v0.55: Soon!


I've been working hard over Winter Break to get Delta A.R.C. at a good point for submission to the 2019 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. I'm not quite where I want to be so I stayed up most of the night tonight and will probably have to pull an all-nighter tomorrow, but the upside is that I'm getting a lot more done on this project than I usually do since I have a deadline. Anyway, since the original demo (this demo that you can download from this page) was titled Delta A.R.C. - Beginnings, I figured I should name this demo something different to distinguish it, so I went with Delta A.R.C. v0.5. It's a better representation of what the final game will be than Beginnings was, including more characters, levels, and cutscenes that I intend to include in the final game. Unfortunately, due to procrastination, this demo will still only include the Training Mission, Kitou Syndicate HQ I, and Bonus Boss levels, as Beginnings did. However, the Kitou Syndicate HQ levels are updated to correctly fit how the story is actually going to play out.  Here's what I've been updating:

A new character appears!

Here's a boss fight I'm working on. This is the only one which will be included in the story mode in Delta A.R.C. v0.5. As you can see, I haven't done in-game sprites for this boss yet. Having lots of fun coming up with interesting bullet patterns though. I hope I haven't made this too hard...

I'm trying not to spoil too much in these posts, but it's very difficult! Anyway, I hope to have Delta A.R.C. v0.5 uploaded on this website within the next few days. It will be similar to this demo but with better art and better story.

After v0.5, I plan to release the final free demo, v0.55, which will be the demo that I wanted to create for v0.5 but was unable to do so due to time constraints. Delta A.R.C. v0.55 will likely include better animation, improved backgrounds, better performance, and more thought-out level design, as well as MAYBE an additional boss battle. I also would like to include an actual level select for the story levels. In addition, there is one gameplay mechanic I have still yet to add to the game as it does not come into play until after the prologue of the story. In fact, it will likely not be included in the first release of v0.55. Maybe I will update it with a bonus level (unrelated to story) to let people test out this mechanic. I am very excited about this mechanic but I don't want to spoil what it is.
